Does NOT work on: ceramic tiles, carpet/padding, metallic-fiber wallpaper, freshly painted walls (allow 1+ week to dry), wood lath & plaster, foil-faced insulation, glass, or other high-density materials

Steps for Locating Wall Studs

Step 1 – Power On & Select Mode

Press and hold the power button to turn on. Default mode is Stud Scan. Short press to switch:

Stud Scan – for wood or metal studs

Deep Scan – for studs behind walls thicker than ³⁄₄ in (19 mm)

Place device against the wall.

Step 2 – Calibrate

Press and hold the scan button until “READY” appears on screen.

Step 3 – Scan

Keep holding the scan button. Move the device slowly and horizontally across the wall. Target bars will appear as you near a stud.

Low response? Try Deep Scan mode.

Step 4 – Find Center

When the target bar fills completely and the beep sounds, you’ve found the stud center. Mark it.

Step 5 – Find Next Stud’s center

Without releasing the scan button, continue past the mark until the target bars disappear. Mark it.

Step 6 – Mark Again

The stud center lies midway between the two marks mentioned above.
